As your Democratic Candidate for Sheriff, I am dedicated to the service and safety of all of Chatham County's citizens. Being an experienced law enforcement administrator, I will lead with integrity and professionalism. Under my leadership, the Chatham County Sheriff's Office will also maintain the highest standards of public service. My goal is to strengthen community partnerships, build trust, improve transparency, and ensure a safer Chatham County for all.

About: "Chief " Richard Coleman
Richard Coleman, known to many as "Chief" is a Savannah native. A 30 year Georgia certified peace officer. Richard is God fearing and the son of two prominent retired Savannah/Chatham educators, "Coach" Roosevelt and "Principal" Vernell Coleman, and the proud father of one daughter. A graduate of Sol C. Johnson High School, Richard has a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice Administration and (in 2024) a Master's degree in Public Administration.

Richard Coleman is experienced on all levels of law enforcement government. Richard is a certified Georgia Law Enforcement Executive Administrator, and former Chief of Police. Richard's extended experience, extends through being a Chief of Internal Affairs, Assistant Chief of Police, and Police Operations Commander. Richard is experienced in staffing, budgeting, policy, outsourcing, resourcing, and community engagement.
